Cracker Barrel…

I must admit I am quite picky when I go out to eat. But not picky in a way that I will not eat certain things. Au contraire, I eat pretty much everything. I am picky in a way that I hate going to a restaurant and being disappointed. I often find myself looking up a restaurant’s review before going. If it ain’t good, I ain’t going…lol

Everytime I head down to the States, I always have an itching to go to a Denny’s and eat one of their famous breakfasts. For me, there something about so American about Denny’s…lol

On my last trip to Boston, I went to Wrentham Premium Outlets for some discounts shopping and discovered Cracker Barrel at the same time! From what I know, Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant (which I usually stay away from… well… besides Denny’s…lol) that serves southern style comfort food. This stuff is near impossible to find in MTL which is probably why I was blown away by Cracker Barrel. So blown away that I went there for lunch and went there for supper on the same day…lol

Upon entering the restaurant, you are faced with bright colored products waiting to be bought. The front of the restaurant acts as a “Old Country Store” where they sell knick knacks and lots of different kinds of candies. Its hard NOT to buy anything there…lol Everything seems so appealing (thankyouverymuch marketing department…lol).

The dining room chalk full of what I presume to be fake memorabilia.

My better half had fried steak with gravy with side of grits and apple cider in a frozen mug.

On my side, I had the best pecan pancake I’ve ever eaten with a side of sausage paddies. To this day, I am still trying to replicate the recipe at home…lol

After a day of shopping, I went back and had a fried steak to call my own. My better half had a girly salad (but man sized…lol), as she was still full from lunch…lol

Fearing that my food intake for the day was all unhealthy stuff, I DID order some veggies with my steak: fried okra and collard greens.

The next time that I’m in the States, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for a Cracker Barrel. I know there is probably better food to be had in the U.S. but the comfort food that Cracker Barrel offers is darn tasty to me!

  1. gosh.. i wonder when they’ll get that kind of food here…the pics looked delish!!!

  2. Unfortunately, this kind of food seems hard to come by unless you are in the U.S. its sad ’cause the food they serve caters to a wide range of taste preferences…

  3. i used to eat that stuff at a diner called jim’s in texas

and lol @ the name ‘cracker barrel’

  4. oh by the way, being picky about good food is a good thing, but don’t let bad reviews dull any of your experiences. a true connoisseur tries every place for himself and then comments on it. sometimes, some of those reviews severely underrate the places that they review.

  5. Now I need to find a place like that over here! lol

Oh I went to your diner this week for breakfast and man do I love that place!

  6. yea, i mostly love that place ’cause of the atmosphere. the food is meh, but it just tastes that much better because of the environment, the reputation… and the memories lol.

  7. Ohhh Denny’s!!! I miss that place. Mind you, I’ve always debated and never arrived at a conclusion as to whether Denny’s or Ihop is better. I’ve never heard of this Cracker Barrel though… I thought that was only a cheese brand!
